Located on the outskirts of Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus, right in the centre of the island, Solomou Garden Centre has developed in recent years in more than just a garden centre. One of the biggest on the island it can be easily reached from all the cities of Cyprus by motorways.
The garden centre has been established in 1983 by Michalis Solomou and was at the time one of the first garden centres on the island. In the recent years a lot has been invested to improve the facilities and make the garden centre a destination where customers can spend several hours, either to shop, relax in the cafe and the surrounding gardens or playing with their children in the playground.
Our focus has always been on availability of quality products, on availability of the widest range of products possible and the best customer service and advice possible.
In 1982, Michalis Solomou made the big decision to start his own business in Nisou, Nicosia by building greenhouses for young plant production, for wholesale, to vegetable, ornamental and herb growers.
One year later he imported his first indoor plant container from Holland and was probably the first garden center to import its own plants from abroad. Michalis parents, Nicholis and Maroula were managing the sales in the retail section. A few years later, Michalis brother, Takis became managing director of the garden center. Recently, Harris has become the managing director of the company and carried out vast expansion and renovation, making Solomou Garden Center a unique destination that visitors can enjoy today.
In the past 27 years the business has developed a great deal in both wholesale and retail and is now divided into four different companies. Solomou Nurseries which is involved in the production of young plants for wholesale and is the biggest nursery in Cyprus. Solomou Trading which is involved in the importing and distribution of various brands of seeds, substrates, plastic tray, pots and artificial grass. Solomou landscaping which is involved in garden design and construction of all kinds of landscape projects and Solomou Garden Centre.
Marios, Harris and Nicholas Solomou are now managing the business. Marios is managing Solomou Nurseries and Trading, Harris is managing the Garden Centre and Nicholas the Landscape business. With our ambitious plans for the future and the family’s involvement in every part of the business, we aim to celebrate Michalis' achievements and continue to develop, focusing on our customers and the quality and service they demand.
